Donna Jean Jewett

Donna Jean Fullerton Jewett, 58, of St. Johnsbury, departed peacefully from this world on July 18, 2010 in Houston, Texas after a long, valiant fight with cancer. Her life partner Steve and her daughter Whitney were by her side. She was born in St. Johnsbury, VT on January 2, 1952, the firstborn of Donald Hadley and Barbara (Reed) Fullerton. For most of her adult life, she was proud to call Littleton, NH home.
Donna was gifted in many areas. As a child, she excelled in school, graduating a year early. She was a proud member of McClures Band, playing the cornet and leading the band with her baton twirling. She was also one of the few who learned the fine art of twirling a fire baton. A beautiful and effervescent young woman, Donna was a North Haverhill Fair Queen and went on to become Miss New Hampshire State Fair Queen.
After high school, she worked at the New Hampshire Probation office. Later, Donna went to work in Littleton with a start-up organization called White Mountain Mental Health Services. She was one of the first employees and was instrumental in its growth and focus. She worked with WMMH for 30+ years, leaving once she became ill. Her warm and caring personality fostered many lasting friendships at the agency and throughout the surrounding area. During this time, she married and had two daughters, Jovaun and Whitney, who quickly became the focus of her life. She spent many hours transporting them to their varied activities, both in the area and long distances. Donna loved the simple things in life, among them flowers and friends, and inspired this quality in her daughters and those around her.
In 1993 she met Steve Murphy and began a relationship that would last 17 years. They enjoyed many good times together and with the children, and grandchildren. For the last five years they lived together in St. Johnsbury. Donna began a new job at RCT during this time, quickly becoming a productive employee and making many new friends.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Barbara Reed Fullerton, daughter, Jovaun Crystal Jewett, nephew, Joshua Fullerton, and niece, Kami Fullerton. She leaves behind her beautiful daughter, Whitney Reed Jewett of St. Johnsbury, her life partner Steve Murphy of St. Johnsbury, brothers and sisters-in-law, James H. Fullerton of Berlin, David J. and Deb Fullerton of Woodsville, D. Jefferey and Barb Fullerton of North Haverhill, nieces Chelsea, Miranda and Destiny, and nephew Nathaniel. She also leaves behind Steves children; daughter, Danielle and her partner Mark and grandson Cameron of Montpelier, son, Shane and his wife Lisa and grandson Tristan of St. Johnsbury; son, Trevor and his wife Amanda of Scottsdale, Arizona.
Donna was a kind, compassionate, giving woman who will be missed by all that had the opportunity to know her. A memorial service will be held at the Rocks Estate at 4 Christmas Tree Ln., Bethlehem on August 18, 2010 at 6:00 pm. A reception immediately following the service will be held with the location to be determined. Colorful attire is welcomed.
