Donna Lee (Roberts) Bruce McDurfee, age 70 passed away Tuesday Dec. 13, 2011 at her home in Hinsdale. She was born in Brattleboro, VT September 24, 1941 the daughter of C.Wayne and Mary Lorraine (Bellville)Roberts. She was a graduate of Brattleboro High School class of 1959.
Donna was married to Gerald R. Bruce in 1963. He predeceased her in July 1965. On Sept.11 1966 she married Harry L. McDurfee; he predeceased her on Dec. 15, 1994.
In 1976 Donna was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, which she was a survivor of 30 years until her recent diagnosis.
Donna enjoyed being with her family and friends. She also enjoyed Baseball, gardening and being outside in nice weather and dancing. Donna worked at Vermont National Bank for 28 years where she was known as the voice of VNB.
Donna enjoyed life to the fullest, always with a smile and kindness for people. She was a member of the VFW and American Legion Brattleboro Post #5
Even up to the time of her passing she was always putting others before herself- She is watching after all of us from above.
Donna is survived by her four sons, Michael Bruce and his wife Lynn, Gerald Bruce, Jeffrey McDurfee and Timothy McDurfee; two brothers, Nicholas Goulas and his wife Marilyn, Steven Goulas and his wife Vicki; two sisters, Christine Tuff and her husband Curtis and Mary Jane Draper and her husband Mike. ; 11 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren also her special friend Leslie Fosburgh and her dog Mia.
Besides her parents and her husband's Gerald and Harry, Donna was predeceased by her grandson Trevor McDurfee.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday Dec. 17, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Ker-Westerlund Funeral Home, 57 High St. Brattleboro. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Oncology Dept. at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital.
