Doris H. Cote, 99, of Manchester, NH, passed away on May 16, 2024 at Villa Crest Nursing and Rehab. Born on November 8, 1924 in Hartford, CT to the late Henry C. and Erna C. Klardie, she was raised by her late grandparents, Otto and Gertrude Hermsdorf. She shared 60 years of marriage with her late husband, Roland J. Cote, who passed away in 2010.
Doris was a 1941 graduate of Manchester West High School. She began her long career as a bookkeeper at the National Life Insurance Company and later worked for Manchester Oxygen, Colonial Supply, and the City of Manchester. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross blood bank for many years and an active member of Blessed Sacrament Church. She took pride in her home and could often be seen outside raking and shoveling. She loved playing the NH lottery, reading Danielle Steel books and enjoyed sitting outside in the sun doing her word search puzzles. Above all else, she cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren and enjoyed traveling and ballroom dancing with Roland during their 60 years together.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Gloria Schooley and her husband Penn of Milford, NH; her sons, John Cote of Manchester, NH and James Cote and his wife Dara of Hooksett, NH; her grandchildren, Kristi Carosi and her husband Chris, Tony Langella, Laura Schooley, Matthew Schooley and his wife Marie, Lyndsey Vallee and her husband Alex, Nathan and Donovan Cote, and Jack and Riley Notarangeli; and her great-grandchildren, Jack, William and Anna Paige Carosi, Madison and Makayla Schooley, and Mia Vallee. In addition to her husband and parents, Doris was predeceased by her daughter, Janet Langella.
Our family would like to extend many thanks to the amazing staff at the Villa Crest Retirement and Nursing Center and the Hospice Visiting Nurses staff who all cared so much for Doris until her last breath!
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 24 at 10:00AM at Blessed Sacrament Church, 14 Elm Street, Manchester, NH. Burial to follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Manchester, NH.
