Doris Jean Gifford

Doris J. Gifford, 98, previously of Horseshoe Pond Place, lifelong resident of Concord, died on September 14, 2025 at the Merrimack County Nursing Home. Born on February 28, 1927 in Concord, she was a daughter of the late Rapheal and Marion (Chateauneuf) Barasso. She was married to the late Richard Gifford on June 21, 1980, in Concord.

Doris had worked as a social worker and mediator for the NH Mediation Program in conjunction with the Concord District Court. She was a pianist and for many years, she volunteered to play at the NH State Hospital. She also volunteered at the Neighborhood Committee at Horseshoe Pond Place.

Doris is survived by her son, Robert Hill and wife Jerri; a daughter, Nancy Hill Daley; four grandsons, Philip, Jeffrey and Matthew Hill and Jason Daley; eight great-grandchildren; the Gifford family, including Steve and his wife Kathy, Elaine and Ford, and Amy; as well as several nieces and nephews, including her beloved niece, Bonnie Malin. In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Vesekis and Beverly Jedrey; her nephew, Rick Barasso; and John Gifford.
