On Sunday, November 28, 2021, Doris T. (Boisvert) Leavitt passed away at the age of 94 from Alzheimer's disease.
Born in Manchester, she was one of nine children born to Albert Boisvert and Florida (Bourassa) Boisvert. She was raised in Manchester and went to St. Jean the Baptist grammar school and Villa Augustina high school. She was married to Edmund Leavitt for 35 Years until his death in 1988.
She was employed at Catholic Charities for 20 years until her retirement at 75.
Doris was active in the Beta Sigma Phi sorority for over 60 years. She served in a variety of positions. She was the recipient of many awards and loved the charitable work the sorority performed.
To know Doris was to know her zest for life. She loved the Christmas season and started preparing early. By that we mean shopping. She loved to shop. She was adventurous, curious and had a quest for knowledge.
She leaves behind her five brothers: Maurice, Raymond and wife Marie of Bedford, Richard and his wife Jeanne of Manchester, Robert of Lake Worth, FL and Gerard and his wife Jeanie of Bedford.
She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews on the Leavitt and Boisvert sides of the family whom she cherished.
She is predeceased by her sisters; Lillian Goudreau and husband Paul, Lucille Corriveau, and Laurette Beaulieu and her husband Emile. Doris was the oldest and last sister left living.
Alzheimer’s is a cruel disease causing a family to grieve the loss of their loved one while the loved one lives on. We are relieved that her struggle has come to an end, and she can rest in peace. The memories of the person she was will live in our hearts.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Hillsborough County Nursing Home and Home Health and Hospice Care for their kind and compassionate care for many years.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on December 9th at The Parish of Transfiguration, 107 Alsace Street, Manchester at 10:00 AM. Committal prayers will take place at Mount Calvary Mausoleum following the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Doris may be made to a charity of your choice.
