Doris M. Carreau

1930 — January 30, 2025

Bedford

Doris M. Carreau, 94, passed away on January 30th, 2025. She was born in Manchester, NH on February 4th, just having missed her 95th birthday. She was the daughter of the late William and Edna Worthley.

Doris was a graduate of Manchester West High School. She met her husband Richard and married at St. Raphael’s Church. She shared 27 years of marriage until his death in 1976. She found great comfort in her Catholic faith.

Doris was a lifelong resident of Manchester until her retirement. She spent years working in a business career and retired from PSNH.

Doris had the most beautiful cursive handwriting. She was awarded several ribbon prizes for her artistic creations and loved to do penciled portraits and flowered paintings.

She loved taking trips to the beach and to the mountains. A beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother, she cherished time spent with family, especially family dinners on Sundays.

She was very proud of her English and Scottish heritage. Ancestors included Thomas Worthley who left England in 1705 and helped found Weare, NH. His sons Jonathan and Timothy were early patriots who participated in the Pine Tree Riot of 1772. Her great-grandmother Grace McKinnon traveled from Glasgow when Doris was young to help the family and pass on cherished traditions from the ‘old country’.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Donna Pollock and her husband Robert. Grandson Jameson Pollock, and his partner Nicole Carchide, and her Great-grandson Ashton Pollock. Several nieces and nephews, Sharon Robichaud, Kathy Schofield, Thomas and Raymond Lazott. Doris was predeceased by her Sister Grace Lazott and Brother-in-law Raymond Lazott and Step-father Louis Vigneau.

A special thank you to Nicole for the loving care you gave my mom at Bedford Hills Center, Bedford and Imelda from VNA Hospice, and to the other staff who were gentle and kind during the last days of her life.

Services will be held on Friday, February 7th at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Ave, Manchester, NH. Visitation will be held from 11AM-12PM with a funeral service at 12PM. Burial to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Bedford, NH.
