Doris I. (Morin) Blanchette

Doris I. (Morin) Blanchette, 102, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2022, at The Lodge at RiverWoods Manchester.

Mrs. Blanchette was born March 5, 1920, in Pawtucket, RI to the late William and Alice (Martel) Morin. She resided in Manchester, NH for most of her life. 

Prior to retirement, Doris worked at Blanchette Engineering for many years.

Doris was an avid walker. She and her late husband, Maurice, loved ballroom dancing where they won numerous awards for their performances. She enjoyed traveling and in later years explored places of interest by watching Aerial America episodes. She was beloved at the nursing home–humble, cheerful, best dressed, always in skirts, never having worn a pair of pants in 102 years! Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the loves of her life.

Doris is survived by her son Steven Blanchette (Lori-Jean), son Dr. John Blanchette (Dr. Elizabeth Robbins), and daughter Mona Breitrick (Steven); her sister Muriel Labore and brother Raymond Morin; grandchildren John Breitrick, Dr. Dena Peltier, Dennis Breitrick, Kimberly Blanchette, Scott Blanchette, Dr. Lisa Blanchette, Dr. David Blanchette and Dr. Karen Lasater; thirteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband, Maurice, to whom she was married for 66 years, and brothers William Morin and Donald Morin.

The family would like to thank the staff at RiverWoods for their caring support of their mother. She always said how nice the staff were and how lucky she was to have them in her life.

The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Jean Chagnon for his compassionate care of her.

Services – Visitation will take place on Friday, December 2, 2022, from 10:00AM – 11:00AM at the Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH. A graveside service will immediately follow at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Route 3, Boscawen.
