Doris Petlock

Doris (Kettner) Petlock, 91, of Manchester, NH, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2017 in the comfort of her home at Birch Hill Terrace, with her daughter and a close friend by her side.

Born on Staten Island, New York, she was the daughter of the late Peter C. and Edna (Flanders) Kettner. Raised on Staten Island, she was a graduate of Curtis High School.

While she had many close friends on Staten Island with whom she remained close throughout her life, some of Doris' fondest childhood memories were of spending summers in Lake Luzerne, NY with family. After graduating from high school, Doris moved to Manhattan where she enjoyed sharing an apartment with friends, and working as a secretary in the paper industry. It was at Mead Papers that she met and married her late husband, Lloyd Petlock to whom she was married for 53 years. Doris and Lloyd enjoyed living in New York City but later moved to Westchester County to raise their two children. After raising their family, they retired to Cape Cod where Doris remained until her husband's passing in 2013. While on the Cape, Doris enjoyed many activities and particularly enjoyed belonging to a women's group that played Bridge every week for over ten years. Following Lloyd's passing, Doris moved to New Hampshire to be closer to her family.

A beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Doris's family was paramount in her life. She especially loved building a strong bond with her grandchildren. In recent years, Doris enjoyed great companionship and care at Birch Hill Terrace. She made many dear friends and took part in a myriad of activities. Though she enjoyed traditional bowling in her younger years, Doris took up and soon loved playing Wii bowling twice per week, becoming a Wii bowling champion with a perfect 300 score! Throughout her life, Doris built long lasting and cherished relationships. Doris was blessed to travel to Italy with a group of friends from Grammar School to jointly celebrate their 65th birthdays! Doris will be best remembered for her kind heart and love of family and friends.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Tracy Hollinger and husband John of Windham, NH, son Kyle Petlock of Colorado, two grandchildren, Justin Hollinger and Jenna Hollinger who brought her so much joy, eight nieces and nephews, three cousins, and her sister-in-law all of whom she loved and cared for deeply. She was predeceased by her sister, Audrey Richards, whom she adored.
