Doris J. Pike

Doris J. Pike, 80, of Concord, NH passed away Monday, December 10th with her family by her side.
She was born on July 16th, 1932 in Plymouth, N.H. the daughter of the late Dannie J. Moody and Grace Philbrick Moody. She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1950. In her youth, she was also a member of the Civil Air Patrol.
Doris was a proud housewife and homemaker who particularly enjoyed cooking. She was a home daycare provider for over 25 years and touched the lives of several children with her creative projects and caring ways. After her retirement she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family playing games like Greed, Sorry and Yahtzee and watching several sports and food programs. One of her greatest pleasures was working as a volunteer at Beaver Meadow Elementary School in Concord, where her son is a teacher. She assisted children with reading and class work. In 2009, she received a BMS Point of Light award as volunteer of the year. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends at the former Beacon's Landing Adult Day Program.
Doris is predeceased by her husband of 47 years, John A. Pike Jr. and is survived by her children James A. Pike and his wife Denise of Penacook, Scott Pike and his wife Jodi of Loudon, Karla Ruggles and her husband Roy of Maiden, N.C. and Audrey Webster of Concord. She leaves four loving grandchildren, Tyler and Nathan Pike of Penacook, Amanda Webster of Concord, and Martina Pike of Loudon, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by her sister, Julia Downing of Plymouth and was the sister of the late Thomas Moody, Daniel Moody, Clifton Moody and Carole Roy.
There are no calling hours. A private family ceremony will be held at the NH State Veteran's Cemetery in Boscawen.
