DOROTHY JOSLIN SUNDMAN
Dorothy (Duston) Joslin Sundman, 99, died on September 6, 2017 at the Morrison Nursing Home in Whitefield, NH. She was born in Hampstead, NH, to Levi E. and Myrtis C. (French) Duston, and was one of ten children.
She graduated from Hampstead High School and attended Wilfred Academy of Hairdressing in Boston, MA. During World War II she worked at MIT doing war work as a glassblower. After the war she moved to Littleton, NH with her husband Sherman H. Joslin, and operated a beauty salon in her home. She was married to Sherman Joslin for 46 years. Sherman died in 1991 and in 1994 she married Maynard Sundman who predeceased her in 2007.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Littleton, where she taught Sunday School, served as a deaconess, and was a member of the Guild and the Ladies' Society. She was also a member of New Hampshire Home Industries and a 20-year volunteer at the Littleton Regional Hospital. She enjoyed time with her family, gardening, needlework, and swimming and was a devoted follower of the Boston Red Sox. She always described herself as a "people person" and is remembered for her warm smile and welcoming manner.
The family includes her two children and spouses, Jeanne Joslin and David Miltenberger of Greensboro VT and Richard and Debra Joslin of Littleton NH, three grandchildren (Stacey, Rachel, and Justin) and their spouses, six great grandchildren, a sister, Thelma Petell of Concord NH, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by three stepsons and their spouses, David and Christine Sundman of Pinehurst NC, Rick and Charron Sundman of Cape Coral FL, Donald and Chacea Sundman of Skaneateles NY and their families.
Her family wishes to extend their warm gratitude to the staff of the Morrison Nursing Home for their loving care of Dorothy during her stay there.
