DOROTHY DELIGHT TANN WING
LITTLETON, NH -- Dorothy Delight Tann Wing entered Life Eternal on October 25, 2008. She was a lifelong resident of the North Country, living for over 65 years in Littleton, New Hampshire.
Dot Wing was born on June 26, 1920 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, to John William and Hazel Taylor Tann. She graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy, class of 1938. Dot had several careers, first and foremost as a homemaker and loving mother of her children and doting grandmother and great-grandmother. She also worked as a telephone operator for New England Telephone & Telegraph Company, as a retail sales clerk for Stod Nichols Mens Wear and Aubuchon Hardware, and as a child care provider.
On June 23, 1946, she was married in Littleton to Walter E. Wing. He predeceased her in June of 1984. Dot was also predeceased by her three brothers John William Tann II, J. Richard Tann and Paul T. Tann. She is survived by her three children Stephen John Wing and wife Carol of Poughkeepsie, New York, Delight Ann Wing and husband John Long of Jericho, Vermont and Michael John Wing and wife Kimberlee of Yarmouth, Maine, 6 grandchildren, Blair, Duncan, Kirsten, Taylor, Webb and Jenny, and 4 great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Michael, Elizabeth and Lucia.
She was a volunteer at Littleton Hospital and an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Littleton.
Dot enjoyed drives on the country roads of Grafton County and trips to the Maine coast. Her greatest love was children. She was happiest when she was entertaining her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, serving at a day care facility, or dispensing advice and counsel to young gentlemen from her post at Stod Nichols store on Main Street. She spent hours watching children play from her home across from Remich Park.
