Duane G. Lighthall, 88, of Manchester, passed away on August 10, 2023 in his home. He is the loving husband of Rita (Landry) Lighthall with whom he shared 23 years of marriage.
Born on April 17, 1935 in Minden, New York to Gordon and Mildred (Manclow) Lighthall, Duane spent the beginning of his life in New York but was relocated frequently for his work until he eventually settled in New Hampshire for retirement. He graduated from Bryant University and only a few months after graduation, he enlisted in the US Army. He most notably toured in Greenland during this time. Duane was a banker by trade, specializing in stocks and bonds, and because of his dedication to his career, he had the opportunity to live in several different states throughout the country. Upon retirement from banking, he worked briefly at Sterling College in Vermont and was a long-time member and administrative assistant of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Manchester.
Duane was a very easy-going person, who would never say a bad word about anyone or anything. He was a romantic and enjoyed playing the piano or tending to his garden. His absence will be felt and missed by all.
Along with his wife Rita, Duane is survived by seven children, Duane Lighthall, Jr and his wife Jennifer of Colorado, Deborah Forbes of Texas, Eleanor Bell and her husband Steve of Texas, Sarah Gillispie of Washington, Joseph Lighthall and his wife Amy of Washington, Darryl Chasse of Manchester, and Andrea Chandonnet and her partner Kevin of Manchester; 14 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; his sister Kathleen Wetmore; and 3 nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 16th at 10:00am in St. Pius X Church, 575 Candia Rd, Manchester. Interment to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum in Manchester. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend.
