Dyke P. Gardner, 54, of 147 Eastern Avenue, Manchester, died October 2, 2000 at the Elliot Hospital. He was born in Glendale, CA on August 10, 1946, the son of H.L. Duke and Mary Gardner For the past fifteen years, he resided in the Derry and Manchester area. He was a Merchant Marine for 31 years, retiring in 1993. He had currently been employed by Harvey Industries. Family members include his wife of 14 years, Lisa (Norley) Gardner; his mother of Trussville, AL; a son Dudley Gardner of KY; a daughter, Marie Ange Gardner of TX; a stepson, Michael Chase of Manchester; three brothers, Kelly Gardner of Clyde, OH, Allan Gardner of DE and Wayne Gardner of Lawrence, MA; a sister, Merry Knight of Trussville, AL; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. There are no scheduled services. After cremation, a scattering will be conducted at sea by the Merchant Marines, Seafarers International Union. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Joslin Diabetes Center, One Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02115.
