Edgar C. Bourgeois, Sr., 96, formerly of Bedford and Manchester, passed away at Hanover Hill Healthcare center on November 20, 2018.
He was born in Manchester on February 19, 1922, the son of Onil and Leonie (Beaudette) Bourgeois. He was a World War II Army Veteran. He had worked for Myrna Shoe Co. for over thirty years until his retirement. Ed was a hard working Family Man, who in his younger years built several houses for his family and others; as his father did before him. He also repaired and rebuilt cars in his garage along with the help from his sons. A long-time Manchester resident, he moved to Bedford in 1986. He was a member of the Freedom Campers and enjoyed socializing at the Manchester Senior Center. He also belonged to the American Legion Sweeney Post where he enjoyed going to their dances. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years Theresa (Rheault) Bourgeois who died in 2004.
Family members include three sons, Edgar C. Bourgeois, Jr., and his wife Sandy of Manchester, Roland P. Bourgeois and his wife Valerie of Malabar, FL, and Dr. Albert J. Bourgeois, DO of Hooksett; a daughter, Diane Demers of Auburn; ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins. He also leaves behind his long-time companion, Ellie Piotrowksi of Manchester.
A memorial gathering will take place on Sunday from 6 to 8 PM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St., Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday morning at 10:00 in Sacred Heart Church. Committal services with military honors will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery mausoleum.
