EDITH MARY HERBERT
BETHLEHEM, NH -- Edith Herbert, age 86, of 897 Profile Road, Bethlehem NH died November 6, 2016 at her home after a long illness. Edith was born in Framingham, Massachusetts on May 24, 1930 to Archie and Gladys Daine. Edith moved with her parents and siblings to the Farm on Monroe Road in Littleton NH. She graduated from Littleton High School. Soon after graduation she met and later married her husband of almost 60 years, Joseph Herbert, who passed in 2009.
After graduating from high school Edith worked at the Littleton Saving Bank. A few years later she decided to take work at the Littleton Hospital as Ward Clerk and Nurse's Aide. She started working nights at the hospital when Joe wanted to start his own plumbing business. Her days were spent as the company bookkeeper. She was also a loving and dedicated mother, sister, aunt and friend.
She loved to garden and to sew, crochet, knit, needle point, and created elaborate wedding cakes. Her artistry was most evident in her many paintings.
She was a long time member of the Advent Christian Church in Littleton and served as their treasurer for many years.
She is survived by her five children; Shirley Austin of Litchfield NH, her two sons, Jason Austin and Jesse Austin; Donald Herbert and his wife Elaine of Topsham, ME and their two children, Brian Herbert and Jennifer Herbert; Michael Herbert and his wife Margaret of Goffstown, NH; Carol Herbert of Bethlehem NH and her children , Jeremy Herbert, David Schultz, Stephen Schultz and Micheline Schultz; James Herbert of Twin Mountain ,NH and his children, James Herbert Jr, Julie Herbert, Trisha Herbert, and step children Laurie Lavin, Ralph Lavin and Randy Lavin; along with many great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Dorothy and husband Francis Corum, Winifred and her husband Chris Bradshaw, Marilyn and her husband Robert Sterns, Norma Evanoff and Irene Wells; and many nieces and nephews. Edith is predeceased by her husband Joseph Herbert, her brother Arnold Daine and step sister Leona Camillucci.
SERVICES -- A Graveside Service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Franconia NH, on Thursday November 10th, 2016 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the NH Disabled Veterans, 7 Mill Brook Road, Wilton NH 03086 in her memory.
