Edith B. Preston

Edith B. Preston, 92, formerly of 369 Bunker Hill Road, Auburn, died June 4, 2001, at Hanover Hill Health Care Center after a short illness. She was born in Massachusetts on August 15, 1907, the daughter of the late John and Abby (Hodges) Baine and had been a resident of Auburn for over 60 years. Mrs. Preston was formerTreasurer for the Town of Auburn for many years. She was a member of the Longmeadow Congregational Church and belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary of that church. Edith was with the Women's Auxiliary for the Auburn Fire Department and formerly was affiliated with the Massabesic and State Grange Association. She employed with the Auburn School lunch program. She was the widow of Miner L. Preston who died in 1999. Family members include a son Cedric E. Preston of Meredith, NH, three daughters, Rena Dubois of Deerfield, NH, Theda Burgess of Pembroke, NH and Veneta Cleary of Auburn, NH, nine grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, three great, great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. SERVICES: Relatives and friends are welcomed to attend Committal services in the Longmeadow Cemetery, Auburn, NH on Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock.
