Edward S. Coughlin, 82, of W. Townshend, VT passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Grace Cottage Hospital in Townshend. He was born in Brattleboro, VT on March 9, 1931, the son of the late William T. and Lola May (Smith) Coughlin.
Edward was educated in the Brattleboro school system, graduating from Brattleboro High School. He then joined the U.S. Navy and served his Country for four years. He was employed at Suburban Propane in Brattleboro for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed playing bingo and was an avid Patriot, Notre Dame and Red Sox's fan. Edward especially loved wood working.
He is predeceased by four brothers, Ernest, William, Michael and Robert Coughlin.
Edward is survived by his loving wife, whom he shared 56 years of marriage with, Beverly (VanNess) Coughlin of W. Townshend, VT; a son, Douglas Coughlin and his wife Donna of Newark, VT; a daughter, Barbara Williams and her husband Chris of Williamsville, VT; a brother, Charles Coughlin and his wife Beatrice of Hendersonville, NC; two grandchildren, LeeAnn Jillson and her husband Kurt and Katie Sargent and her husband John; a great granddaughter, Mya Marie Sargent, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The Ker-Westerlund Funeral Home, 57 High St, Brattleboro, VT is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edward's name to Grace Cottage Family Health, P.O. Box, 217, Townshend, VT 05353.
