Edward E. Gottschling, 88, of 175 Chestnut Street, died September 6, 2004 at his residence. He was born in Manchester on January 13, 1916, the son of Karl and Bertha (Kegnell) Gottschling and had been a lifelong resident of the City. He was in the Army National Guard, 172nd Field Artillery for many years. He had worked as a painter for Herbert W. Paul Company. He was a past member of the Workmens Club. He was predeceased by his wife, Ada P. (Peaslee) Gottschling who died in 1998, by a son Edward Gottschling and by a daughter, Sherry Gottschling. A graveside memorial service will take place on Tuesday at 9:30 in Pine Grove Cemetery. Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium is in charge of arrangements.
