Edward J. "Ed" Houle passed away at home with his loving family at his side Thursday September 4, 2014 following a lengthy illness.
The son of Ernest and Dora (Pinard) Houle, Ed was born in Lawrence, MA on February 10, 1929. He lived in Lawrence during part of his childhood and moved to Manchester where he would reside for the rest of his life. He attended St. Jean the Baptist School. Ed was a truck driver for Roberts, Quinn Freight and later Holmes Transportation in Manchester.
Ed and his wife Therese met in their mid teens and were married February 26, 1949, at St. Jean the Baptist Church in Manchester, starting their family shortly after. He spent several years as a Eucharistic Minister. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting. Ed also loved fishing and motorcycle riding.
Ed is survived by his; son Ernest J. Houle and his wife Marie of Manchester; son Roger A. Houle Sr. and his wife Susan of Bow; daughter Diane R. Cote of Manchester; grandchildren Julie Houle, Laurie Smith, Jessica Kellogg, Jenny Burns, Roger A. Houle Jr., Kristie Fremeau, James Cote, Keith Valentin, Tony Valentin, Chris Valentin, Terri Baston and Brian Baston; 22 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his, wife of 63 years, Therese "Terry" (Boudreau) Houle, daughter, Claire Valentin and his sister, Mary Boudreau.
The family will receive visitors 4-8pm Monday September 8th at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Avenue in Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Tuesday September 9th at Parish of the Transfiguration, 107 Alsace Street in Manchester. Committal Prayers will follow immediately in the mausoleum chapel at Mt Calvary Cemetery.
