EDWARD J. BUZZ McCABE, JR.
WHITEFIELD, NH Edward J. Buzz McCabe, Jr., 77, of 9 Shoreline Drive, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2005 at the Littleton Regional Hospital, after an extended illness.
Mr. McCabe was the son of the late Edward J. and Beatrice E. (Couper) McCabe, born on January 24, 1928 in Providence, RI. He was the widower of L. Kathleen Langton.
Buzz was a 1945 graduate of LaSalle Academy where he was an outstanding baseball player and member of the band. The recently constructed band room at LaSalle was dedicated in his name. He was an avid sports fan throughout his life. The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame was his team of all teams and he traveled for many years to their games.
Mr. McCabe served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and was an ironworker for several years before joining his father in his business, Drum Rock Specialties of Warwick, RI. He retired from Drum Rock in 1993 and moved to Whitefield, NH where he made many close friends. He was a life member of the Warwick Elks Lodge #2196 of Warwick, RI.
Buzz is survived by several cousins including Francis McCabe, Kay Sullivan and Mary Morgan; his companion, Kay Donovan, and his beloved pal, Rocky.
SERVICES A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 16, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthews Church in Whitefield, NH, with Rev. Fr. George Majka as Celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations in his memory to the LaSalle Academy, Special Needs Fund, 612 Academy Avenue, Providence, RI 02908. A memorial mass in RI will be held at a later date. Notification will be in the Providence Journal.
