Edward J. Roy, Jr., 87, of 238 Spruce Street, died January 24, 2004 at Academy Manor Nursing Home in Andover, MA following complications resulting from a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was born in Manchester on July 17, 1916, the son of Edward J. and Dora (Roux) Roy, Sr., and had been a lifelong resident of the City. He had worked for over 40 years for Western Union Telegram. After his retirement, he had worked for several years at Manchester City Hall. He was a long-time parishioner of St. Augustin Church and was a volunteer with the St. Vincent de Paul Society and other community organizations throughout his life. He was the widow of Irene (Fournier) Roy who died in 1989. Family members include two sons, Armand Roy of West Dover, VT and Ronald Roy of Andover, MA; a daughter, Mrs. Bertrand (Camille) Ouellette of Andover, MA; two grandchildren; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. In His Life: In his spare time, he enjoyed dancing. He also loved to spend time with his two grandchildren, Christopher and Matthew Ouellette. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street on Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 11:00 in St. Augustin Church. Burial will take place in St. Augustin Cemetery.
