Edward Eassa Samara, 82, of 13 Grenier Field Road, Londonderry, died March 15, 2002 at the Elliot Hospital . He was born in Manchester on November 23, 1919, the son of Eassa and Minerva (Maloley) Samara and had been a Londonderry resident for the past fifty years. He spent his summers in Rye Beach and also spent time in Boca Raton, FL. He was a prominent business leader of international stature and owned a number of business including Granite State Loan Corp and E&R Real Estate, both of Derry. His charitable contributions were considerable and always anonymous. He was a Master Mason, 32nd degree and a member of the St. Marks Lodge #44 and Bektash Temple of Concord. He was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral. He loved sports and loved life the most. He was a devoted father and grandfather. He had a casual flamboyance and a wonderful sense of humor which drew many people to him. He was the widower of Helen (Maloof) Samara who died in 1971. Family members include his son, Ronald Samara, a prominent artist from Laguna Beach, CA; three daughters, Dr. Brenda Samara, Ph.D. of Cheltenham, PA; Tanya Samara of Stratham and Mrs. Robert (Lisa) Ross of Stratham; three grandchildren, Robert Fleck, Jr., John Akar and Rabiah Akar; his longtime companion, Mary Alice Chatis of Londonderry; a brother, Dr. George Samara of Manchester; three sisters, Helen Samara of Manchester, Victoria Rahall of St.. Petersburg, FL and Pauline Gatsas of Manchester; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street on Sunday from 4 to 8 PM. The Trisageon service will be held in the funeral home on Sunday evening at 7 PM. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday morning at 11:00 in St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
