EDWARD MILTON SIMONDS

LITTLETON  Edward M. Simonds, 84, passed away on November 7th at the Littleton Regional Hospital after a brief illness.

Edward was born in Littleton, NH on January 27, 1919, a son to Errol and Anna (Champagne)  Black Simonds.

Edward joined the U. S. Army in January 1941 and served in World War II. He was awarded two Pacific Service Medals and a WWII Service medal. After his discharge from the Army on August 29, 1945, he worked at Connors and Hoffman Shoe Shop until he retired.

He was married to Shirley Mae (Brown) Paradis Simonds on May 1, 1954. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and walker. He helped his wife, Shirley raise her children. Edward was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church and a proud lifetime member of the VFW. He was the oldest member of the VFW-Howard Shawney Post 816, being a member for 60 years.

Surviving family members include his wife, Shirley Simonds of Littleton, NH; two daughters, Jeanette (Paradis) Tetreault of Littleton, NH, Elaine (Paradis) Smith of Zyphyrhills, FL; two sons, Richard Paradis of Greensville, NC, and Maurice Paradis of Littleton, NH, two half-brothers, Elmer Black, Jr. of Whitefield, NH, and Robert T. Black of Littleton, NH; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

SERVICES  There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 17th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Joseph Klatka as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Rose Cemetery in Littleton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VFW-Howard Shawney Post 816, P. O. Box 562, Littleton, NH 03561.
