Edward Smith

Edward J. Smith, 70, of Edward J. Smith, 70, of Pinardville, passed away on September 24, 2017 at Catholic Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Hopkins, MN, he was the son of the late Edward D. and Elly (Lindstrom) Smith. Ed was raised and educated in Minnesota. He met and married the love of his life, the late Elaine (Austin) Smith at Fort Devens, MA at a military dance. Ed and Elaine settled in New Hampshire to raise their beautiful family. Edward was employed by the United States Postal Service for 30 years prior to his retirement in 2005.

An honorably discharged veteran, Ed proudly serviced his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

A beloved father, grandfather, and friend, Ed was the pillar of strength for his family. Ed cherished time spent with his grandchildren and loved attending their sporting events. A child at heart, Ed was well known for his sense of humor. Ed found great comfort and friendship in his many dog companions throughout the years. An avid outdoorsman, Ed enjoyed birdwatching and fishing in his younger years. Ed will be best remembered for his generous heart and dedication to his family.

Ed is survived by his two daughters, Karen Cusson and husband Greg of Manchester, and Julie Josey of Pinardville; son, Brian Smith of Sacramento, CA; seven grandchildren, Julien, Jasen, Gabriel, Theodore, Cole, Eliza, and Tyler; and extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by his wife, Elaine Smith with whom he shared nearly 40 years of marriage prior to her passing in 2010. Ed missed his beloved Elaine dearly and is reunited with her to dance together again.

ARRANGEMENTS: His Visitation will be held in the Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Ave., Manchester, on Wednesday, September 27 from 4:00 to 7:00P.M. His Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home, on Thursday, September 28 at 11:00A.M. Following Mass, Ed will be laid to rest at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Edward's memory to Alzheimer's Association, 166 S River Rd #210, Bedford, NH 03110.
