Eero J Hyvonen

Eero J. Hyvonen, 85, of Bedford, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Arbors of Bedford on March 19, 2023.

Eero was born in Pulkkila, Finland on January 12, 1938, the son of the late Vaino and Sylvie (Uljua) Hyvonen.  He served in the Signal Corps in the Finnish Army before graduating as an electrical engineer.  At 22 years old, Eero emigrated to the United States with his wife, Saara (Riekki) Hyvonen, and proudly became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1974.  His ambition led him to be a co-founder of both Hycon, Inc. and North American Plastics, Ltd. Eero loved spending time at his summer home which he passionately built in Frye Island, Maine on Sebago Lake. He enjoyed fishing, boating, skiing, and gardening. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Eero was predeceased by his first wife, Saara (Riekki) Hyvonen in 1995.

Surviving family members include his wife of 25 years, Mary Lou (Thibodeau) Hyvonen; a son, Mika Hyvonen and his wife Lindsay of Auburn; three daughters, Outi Baker and her husband David of Orleans, MA, Kirsi Mazzola and her husband Michael of Durham, and Tiina Hyvonen and her partner Michael Carboni of Bow; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; two step-sons, Lenny Thibodeau of Lynneboro and Brian Thibodeau and his wife Molly of Hampton; 4 step grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren as well as many family members who reside in Finland.

Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St., Manchester on Friday, March 24^th from 10:30 to 12:30 with a funeral service to follow in the funeral home chapel at 12:30 officiated by Reverend Peter Chamberland of Granite State Baptist Church.
