ELAINE T. COURTEMANCHE
MANCHESTER â Elaine Therese (Leblanc) Courtemanche, 73, died on Monday, March 14, 2011, at the Catholic Medical Center, in Manchester, after a period of declining health.
Born in Manchester, NH, on July 24, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Therese (Marquis) Leblanc. She resided in Goffstown for many years, moving to North Ft. Myers, Florida for 7 years, then returning to Manchester.
Mrs. Courtemanche received her nursing degree in 1958, and worked in nursing for many years. In her earlier years, she was employed in hospitals and then in geriatrics becoming certified as a Geriatric RN. She became head nurse, a position she held for 25 years before retiring from the Hillsborough County Nursing Home, in Goffstown.
She enjoyed reading, traveling, sewing and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great granddaughters.
IN HER LIFE: Members of her family include; her son, Guy Courtemanche and his wife, Huyen Nga, of Everett, WA; four daughters, Michelle Courtemanche, of Manchester; Lisa Courtemanche, and her longtime companion, Paul Simon, of Merrimack; Lynne Berry, and her husband, Bert, of Pittsfield, NH; Renee Dovich, and her husband, Paul, of Dover, NH; five grandchildren, Kathleen, Camille, Aiden, Avery, Elise, two twin great granddaughters, Lexi and Laci, one brother, Paul Leblanc, and his wife Doris, of Cape Coral, FL; three sisters Claire Dubois, and her husband, Don, of Ft. Myers, FL; Jeanne Sargent, of Hooksett; Rita Boucher, and her husband, Charles, of Hudson, NH; many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her two adoring cats, Tigger and Tyla.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lionel A. Courtemanche, who died in 1998.
SERVICES: Calling hours will be Thursday, March 17, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover Street, corner of Union Street, in Manchester. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, 11:00 AM at St. Catherine Church, 207 Hemlock Street, in Manchester. Committal prayers and burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, in Manchester.
