Elaine R. Sweeney

Elaine R. Sweeney, 72, of Manchester, NH, passed away at the Elliot Hospital on October 15, 2021. Born in Manchester on July 11, 1949, she was a daughter of the late Gerard and Irene (Marier) Drouin. Elaine shared 25 years of marriage with her late husband, Steven H. Sweeney.

Elaine was raised in Hooksett and was a graduate of Central High School. She proudly served in the United States Navy from 1970 – 1971. She worked as a proofreader for Lighthouse Printing for many years. Elaine enjoyed gardening and playing computer games. Above all else, Elaine was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who loved nothing more than spending time with her family.

Elaine is survived by her children, Claire Washburn, Angela Martineau and her husband Andrew, Candice Poisson and her husband Roger Jr., Shaun Washburn and Kimberly Naum and her husband David; her brother, Donald Drouin and his wife Priscilla; her eight grandchildren: Kendra Washburn, Kristyn Griffin, Kayla Kitchen, DJ Cormier, Courtney Martineau, Roger Poisson III, and James and Tylar Naum; as well as ten great-grandchildren.

A calling hour will be held on Friday, October 22 from 6-7pm with a funeral service at 7pm at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester. Elaine will be laid to rest alongside her late husband on Monday, October 25 at 1:30pm at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen.
