Elaine Kingsbury Touchette, 83 years old, died peacefully Thursday evening, December 27, 2012 at Grace Cottage in Townshend, VT. Elaine was born November 4, 1929 in Springfield, VT; she was the daughter of Henry and Thelma Kingsbury. She graduated from Leland & Gray Seminary, Townshend, VT in 1947. Elaine was married to Carl Mowrey in April 1949 which ended in divorce. In September 1956, Elaine married Charles Touchette, who predeceased her in February, 1993. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Joanne Touchette who passed in 1975. Elaine was an LPN working at Brattleboro Retreat and Linden Lodge until her retirement in 2001 after over 4o years of service. After retiring, Elaine enjoyed going on trips and cruises with family and friends. She also enjoyed being at home feeding her birds, tending her flower garden and lovingly caring for her cat Rocket and her son Lenny's dog Walker.
She is survived by her children; daughter Linda Seppala and her husband Tom of Epping, NH; son Lenny Mowrey of East Dummerston Vermont; daughter Donna Weeks and her husband Allen of Milford, DE; son Kevin Mowrey and his wife Sandy of Williamsville, VT and daughter Sue Gerstenberger and her husband Peter of Windham, NH. She is also survived by a brother, Durward Kingsbury and his wife Anita of West Chesterfield, NH and a sister, Joyce Coleman of Springfield, nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Ker-Westerlund Funeral Home, 57 High Street in Brattleboro, VT. Funeral services will be conducted at the Windham Community Chapel, 850 US Route 5 Dummerston VT on Monday December 31, 2012 at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at the Rawsonville Cemetery in Jamaica, VT. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations may be made to Grace Cottage Hospital, PO Box 1 Townshend, VT 05353 or the Windham Community Chapel, 850 US Route 5, Dummerston, VT 05301.
