Eleanor Eva Fitzgerald died on September 17, 2026 peacefully at her residence in Raymond, NH surrounded by family. Born in Manchester, NH on October 25, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Robert B. Gage and Irene L. (Goulet) Gage. She was the wife of Edwin D. Fitzgerald who predeceased her in 2020. She was married on September 26, 1959 to the love of her life at St. Albert the Great Catholic church in Weymouth, MA.

Ellie attended Archbishop Williams High School as the first graduating class in 1953. Ellie spent her long career working for New England Telephone and retired just after the diversification to AT&T in the early 90s. She spent her life as a devout Catholic. Ellie attended daily mass and participated as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. She enjoyed doing outreach to shut-ins by providing them with company in addition to Communion.

Ellie had many hobbies including travelling, gardening, knitting, sewing and painting, but quilting was her passion. She loved nothing more than making quilts for anyone and everyone. She provided many quilts to family and friends whether it was for the birth of a child, someone getting married, or some other happy event in someone’s life. Ellie’s greatest joys in life were spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. During her marriage she visited all US states and many countries. She continued travelling with her husband after their retirement. Ellie was an active, social, warm and generous woman who loved spending time with friends and family. She was always willing to help where needed whether the church needed a quilt for a raffle, teaching classes at her local quilt guild, or just providing encouragement or advice to a friend or neighbor. Ellie lived a happy, comfortable life whether at her winter home in Florida or at one of her children’s homes in New England during the summer.
