Eleanor Kathryn (Longtine) Girouard, 95, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, June 3, 2022, at Villa Crest Nursing and Retirement Center, Manchester NH. She is survived by three children, James Girouard and his wife Maureen of Millbury MA, Mary Higgins and her husband Stephen of Candia, NH, Margaret Marko and her husband Bohdan of Candia, her daughter-in-law Tonya Girouard, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband of 50 years, James A. Girouard, her son, Thomas E. Girouard, her brothers Francis and James, her sister Mary, her sisters-in-law Victoria and Marilyn and brothers-in-law William and Joseph.
Eleanor was born to Frank J. and Ellen (Casey) Longtine, on September 1, 1926, and resided in the Palmer village of Thorndike, MA. She graduated from Palmer High School and worked in the Mass Electric Company meter department where she met her husband, Jim. Eleanor and Jim built their house near Lake Thompson, Palmer where they raised their family. Prior to her retirement, she was employed in the Palmer District Courthouse. Later, Eleanor and Jim moved to Manchester, NH where she enjoyed many happy years living in the Ledgewood community.
Eleanor enjoyed hosting family gatherings, reading, painting, puzzles, music, crafts, and flower gardening. Most of all, her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family.
