We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Eleanor (Guidas) Johns. Elle, as she liked to be called, moved to New Hampshire around 2007 to be closer to her daughter. After a number of serious health conditions, she moved to Bedford Hills where she lived until her death on February 15, 2024.
As anyone who knew her can tell you, Eleanor was unique. She was the only daughter of the late John M. and Veronica (Thumac) Guidas, with 7 older brothers. She was exceptionally strong willed (to the end), but always tried to be perfect. She loved murder mysteries (whether to read or watch), high fashion, travel, and her daughter. Upon high school graduation from Trinity Catholic High School, she went to Seton Hill College for a year when "ladies did not do that". She was a clothing model in Pittsburgh and Los Angeles for a number of years and only stopped working when she married her late husband Ray. She grew up in Washington, PA, but also lived in Houston, TX (her favorite city in the world) and Whittier, CA - which is where her daughter Traci was born. She later went back to school and completed her paralegal degree and worked for various attorneys, including Legal Aid in Uniontown, PA, for many, many years. A job which she loved. Eleanor was not always easy to get along with; she was stubborn to the end, and life with her could be very challenging. However, when she was in a good space, she was kind, intelligent, and loving with a spicy sense of humor. If you want a good representation of Eleanor, find any episode of "Green Acres" and let that be an example of life with her. Her husband was the down-to-earth farmer (who was actually a banker) who had no time for silliness and was married to his beautiful exasperating wife who didn't want to be a farm wife and went on shopping trips and traveled every moment she could.
Elle is predeceased by her husband Ray Johns, and her 7 brothers, Regis, John Jr., Martin, Bernard, Dave, Robert, and Franklin. She is survived by her only child Traci (Johns) Belanger and her husband Brian of Manchester; as well as a number of nephews, two nieces, and some cousins.
There will be no services at this time. Anyone compelled to give a donation should donate to the American Heart Association or a local animal shelter of your choice.
