Elizabeth "Betty" Lamy

July 19, 1934 — July 12, 2023

Hampton, NH

Elizabeth (Betty) Antoniou Lamy, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away on Wednesday July 12, 2023.

Elizabeth was born in Manchester on July 19, 1934 to parents Antonios and Mary Antoniou.  Alongside her two sisters Sophia and Connie Antoniou, Elizabeth was immersed in the Greek community and spoke Greek as a second language.

After graduating from Central High School Class of 1951, she met and married Richard Lamy in 1957.  Together they raised four children in the Manchester area.  Her love for the seacoast drew her to Hampton Beach where she ultimately moved to in 1985.  She graduated from University Systems of New Hampshire, School for Lifelong Learning in 1992 earning her bachelor’s degree in professional studies.  She worked for New England Telephone until she retired in 1994.

Elizabeth is predeceased by her son Timothy Lamy, daughter Kathleen Lamy, and sisters Sophia and Connie.  She is survived by her son Thomas Lamy, daughter Karen Brooks, 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Elizabeth was a guiding light in the lives of her children, always supporting them with her wisdom, strength, and unconditional love.  Affectionately known as Yia Yia, she took great joy in her role as a grandmother and great grandmother.  Her greatest pleasures were cooking, reading, and spending time with her family.

As we mourn the life of Elizabeth, we also celebrate a life well lived.  Filled with love, laughter, and remembrances her memory will be forever cherished in our hearts.  Those who knew her well will be comforted by knowing she is reunited with those she loved so dearly.

Private burial services will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery July 28th at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers and in honor of Elizabeth’s memory, memorial donations made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Alzheimer’s Association would be greatly appreciated.
