Elizabeth Ellen Smith, 95, of Manchester, NH (formerly of South Boston Mass) passed away peacefully at her residence on May 11, 2026. Born on November 12, 1930, in Boston, MA, Elizabeth was the beloved daughter of the late James and Ruth (MacKinnon) Devoy. She was known for her kind heart, quiet strength, and deep love for her family.

Elizabeth especially enjoyed reading and treasured the time she spent with her loved ones. Whether sharing stories, enjoying family gatherings at her home on “G” street in South Boston, or simply “stalking” them on Facebook, those moments brought her the greatest happiness.

She is survived by her sister Ruth (Devoy) Wisnaskas and her husband Bill, her loving Children John Smith and his late wife Holly, Betsy Weichel, Diane Moran and her husband James, and Richard Smith. She was predeceased by her daughter Jaqueline Smith Darling and her son James Smith and 6 siblings. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 5 Great-Great grandchildren. along with additional family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Following cremation, the family will hold a memorial service on a later date. Elizabeth’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society.
