Elmer L. Simpson, 76, of 61 Ellis Avenue, died April 22, 2005 at Catholic Medical Center. He was born in Manchester on November 26, 1928, the son of Frederick and Belle (Pearl) Simpson and had been a lifelong resident of the city. He had worked for Associated Grocers for 23 years until his retirement. He was a parishioner of St. Pius X Church. He enjoyed square dancing and was an avid Red Sox fan. He loved covered bridges. Earlier in his life, he was very active at East Little League where he was a coach for 15 seasons. Family members include his wife of 57 years, Doris (Charbonneau) Simpson; a daughter, Joyce Sylvester of Loudon; six sons, Paul Simpson of FL, Gary Simpson and Glen Simpson, both of Manchester, Mark Simpson of NY, Scott Simpson of Dunbarton and Wayne Simpson of Candia; 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; a brother, Ernest Simpson of FL and a step-brother, John Mordaunt of Manchester; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 11:00 in St. Pius X Church.
