Elsie M. Swierz, 96, of Manchester passed away on September 23, 2019 after a short illness at Villa Crest Nursing and Retirement. Born in Bennington, Vermont on January 8, 1923, she was the daughter of Cecil and Clara Stalker. A lifelong resident of Manchester, Elsie worked in the Manchester mill yards while bringing up her young family.
Elsie loved going to the beach, visiting her father-in-law's 15-acre farm on Front Street, traveling around New England especially in foliage season and visiting family members in Chatham, New York. She also took great pleasure in volunteering at Blessed Sacrament Parish serving holiday meals. Her greatest love was her family. She was full of life and will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was predeceased by her husband Frank Swierz, Sr. and siblings Alida Huston and Cecil Stalker. She is survived by her son Frank Swierz, Jr. and his wife Ginger, daughter Patricia (Swierz) Ransom, grandchildren Eric Swierz, Kelley Fitzgerald, Debra Carrier, Karen Corriveau, Glenn Vallee and Charles Foss, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the nurses, staff and administration for the care, love and kindness they showed Elsie and her family for the past five and a half years.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 26th from 9:30 - 10:30 AM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes, 243 Hanover St., Manchester NH. A funeral service will be held immediately afterwards at 11:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 14 Elm St, Manchester NH. Burial will follow at St. Hedwig Cemetery.
