Coming from his "daughter" he was a multi textured colorful man. From his rough edges of getting you up at the crack of dawn on a Sunday, for him to just go back to bed after he got you up. To his love of his wife Barbara, his son Bryce and grandchildren Derrick, Sheila, Eckho and Sharon, and his great grandchildren Austin and Lilly. Lets not forget his little four legged grandchildren Puglsy, Frank and Mini that provided him with much comfort.
I told my family that I wanted a different obituary for him. One that told of the man we know, stories of him that were meaningful to us. That is what I wanted everyone to share about him. Not just the "yes he was a good man", but that he was also a pain in the butt and drove you crazy with some of his frustrating ways.
Those are the things I remember and would not change because that made him who he was to me. The memories each of you may have of him are special unto you and those are the stories I hope you will share with us. Take the time help us write his obituary by sharing the man you came to know. Don't hold back that's what makes this so special to hear moments he shared with all kinds of people. I look forward to hearing from you and getting to know more about my dad even after he has passed.
No, he did not cure cancer, nor did he get to see world peace but he was and is a great man to me. Why? Because he was just him never pretended to be anything more. What made him a great man for you? Derrick, was yours when your Grampa tried to build you a swing in the back yard and accidently hit you in the head with a 4 X 4 in the process? LOL Ok, how about you Eckho how about when he went sledding with us in Canada and there you stood at the bottom of the hill telling him "too heaby Grampa, too heaby" (she was 3) when you didn't want to pull your sled up the hill? LOL Bryce what about you could it have been when you took him four wheeling and he refused to put his seatbelt on and bounced around in the seat like a rubber ball? LOL
Tell us your story of the great man you came to know. To some these may not be "great" events but at the time and looking back they sure are great memories now.
Looking forward to all that will help continuing on with Elwyn's obituary..........
