Eric Dale Sosnowski, aged 73, passed away suddenly on October 3, 2024, in Orono, Maine. Born in Manchester, NH on September 14, 1951; the son of Michael and Thelma Sosnowski. Eric dedicated his life to his family, his faith, and his profession.
Growing up, Eric loved sports. He was a star basketball and baseball player in middle school and high school. He started playing golf with his father in high school.
In 1976, Eric and Colette were married after meeting in a bowling league they both played in. In 1985, they moved to Huntington Beach, CA, where they lived and enjoyed family, friends, and golf for most of their lives. They retired to Bluffton, SC, in 2015, where they continued enjoying golf and vacationing with friends in the beautiful areas of the south.
A devout Christian, Eric was actively involved in his church communities. At Christ Pacific Church in Huntington Beach, he was part of the church missions team and led several short-term mission trips to Guatemala, Peru, and Mexico. At Grace Coastal Church in Okatie, SC, Eric was the program leader who assisted residents in home repairs due to storm and disaster damage.
Eric graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of New Hampshire. He was accomplished in both domestic and international venues spanning over 25 years, with diverse experience in nuclear power, fossil fuels, oil refineries, and gas fueling systems. He was also proficient in design/build roadways; tunnel construction; environmental cleanup and restoration; demolition and decommissioning; and tenant improvement renovations.
An avid golfer, Eric found joy on the golf course with his wife, friends, and colleagues. Eric and Colette’s favorite golfing and vacationing spot was Hawaii. They enjoyed it so much they took their second honeymoon there. Eric loved cutting, splitting, and burning wood in his wood stove so much when living in New England he wanted to experience it again, so they moved to Orono, Maine, to be closer to family. Eric loved giving advice to his family on investments and money matters. He also enjoyed bringing his grandchildren to Disneyland, Six Flags, Universal Studios, and many other attractions. He was always the one willing to go on the intimidating rides with them.
Eric leaves behind a legacy of love and commitment to his family. He is preceded in death by his son, Daniel ‘Danny’ Boudreau. He is survived by his daughters, Danette Schoenauer and Phyllis Boudreau and her husband Kerry Pranke; grandchildren, Shawn Akey and his significant other Emily Hough, Tyler Akey and his significant other Vasiliki Georgopoulos, Stephanie Lemmon and her husband Shawn Lemmon, Krysta Lebel, and Julia Lebel; as well as his niece and nephew, Nicholas and Alexandra Sosnowski.
