Erma H. (Hersey) Bauer, 77, of 107 Parker Street, Manchester, NH, died March 24, 2002 at Catholic Medical Center. She was born in Presque Isle, ME, the daughter of Malcolm and Azubah (Beckwith) Bauer and had been a Manchester resident since 1951. She was the widow of Albert Bauer, Jr., who died in 1980. During World War II, she had been a nurses aid with the American Red Cross. She had worked at West High School for twenty years, retiring in January 1992. She received her Associates Degree in General Studies in 1993 from UNH at Manchester and was an honorary member of the of the West High School graduating Class of 1993. She then went on to receive a BA Degree in Humanities from UNH at Manchester in 1998. She was an active member of the State Exploring Committee, Daniel Webster Council for many years and was the recipient of the Spurgen Award and District Award of Merit. She was a committee member of the Explorers Post 617 (New Hampshire Insurance) and the Elliot Hospital Post and was a Leadership and Century member of the Daniel Webster Council of the Explorers. She was also a committee member on Accreditation at West High School and a member of the West High Sports Booster Club. She belonged to the New Hampshire School Food Service Association and was a Girl Scout and Brownie Troop Leader. She was a active parishioner of St. Raphael Church and was a Charter member of the St. Raphael Woman's Guild. Family memebers include four sons, Albert P. Bauer, III; Robert R. Bauer and Thomas G. Bauer, all of Manchester and Edward J. Bauer of Derry; five daughters, Mary Lawrence and Elizabeth R. Matteo, both of NJ; Mrs. Kevin (Barbara A.) Letourneau of Deerfield, Mrs. Jeffrey (Lynn T.) Glenn of FL and formerly of Penacook; and Mrs. Francisco (Christina M.) Lado of NJ; 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Avenue on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 10:00 in St. Raphael Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
