MANCHESTER – Ernest Jacob Erkkila, Jr., 63, died on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at the VA Medical Center, in Manchester.
Mr. Erkkila was born on August 5, 1947, in Painesville, OH, the son of Ernest J. and Dorothy (Volanski) Erkkila, Sr. He was raised and educated in Painesville, Ohio. Mr. Erkkila was a resident of Manchester for 35 years.
Mr. Erkkila was a veteran of the United States Army, and served during the Vietnam War.
He attended NH College, where he earned his business degree. He was self-employed and worked as an elevator mechanic.
Mr. Erkkila enjoyed sailing and had resided in many warmer climates.
Members of his family include; his two daughters, Kristen Erkkila of Pembroke, NH; Kathleen Erkkila, of Goffstown, NH; two grandchildren; one brother, three sisters, nieces and nephews.
IN HIS LIFE: Mr. Erkkila leaves behind, brother-in-law, Thomas Callahan and his wife, Sharon, of Sunapee, NH; and former wife, Susan Erkkila.
