Estelle M. Girard, 83, formerly of 149 Youville Street, died June 20, 2003 at the Warde Health Center in Windham. She was born in Manchester on August 6, 1919, the daughter of Ona F. and Maria A. (Deland) Girard. She received her primary and secondary education in the Catholic School System. On August 25, 1936, she entered the Order of the Sisters of Presentation of Mary. She taught in various boarding schools in the Province of Quebec, Canada at the elementary and high school levels. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Rivier College in 1965 and a Master of Arts Degree from Boston College in 1967. She pursued doctoral studies in Philosophy at the University of Ottawa until 1969. In 1969, she returned to Manchester where she was employed by New Hampshire Catholic Charities, Inc., and she served for fifteen years as a personal secretary for Msgr. John Quinn. In 1983, she went to work part-time as an assistant to Dr. Michael A. Noonan, then director of the Consultation Service for the Church Ministries, a program operated by Catholic Charities. She was a parishioner of the Church of the Transfiguration. Family members include many nephews, nieces, cousins and several in-laws. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 24 at 10:00 in the Church of the Transfiguration. Committal service and inurnment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery mausoleum. Family and friends are invited to attend memorial gathering at the Backroom Restuarant immediately following the service.
