Estelle Stelle Solomon, 59, of 54 Alexander Road, died November 1, 2005, at Elliot Hospital. Born in North Carolina September 12, 1946, she was the daughter of Shepard and Roberta (McLeod) McArthur. She attended South Carolina public schools and graduated from Spartanburg Technical College where she was one of the first women to concentrate her studies in the new field of computer programming. During her 38 year career as a Computer Programmer, she was recognized as one of the leaders in her field and a committed employee and colleague. She retired from Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield in Manchester, New Hampshire earlier this year after 27 years of dedicated and skilled employment. IN HER LIFE: Stelle, as she was fondly known, was an accomplished weaver and spinner and her beautiful wall hangings and woven blankets and pillows grace the homes of many of her family and friends. She was a calligrapher and she also did lovely charcoal drawings. She was proud of her southern Scottish heritage, she traced her ancestry to the American Revolution, several of her ancestors fought and died for the revolutionary cause. Many of her relatives are certified as Daughters of the American Revolution and Stelle was qualified, by her family lineage, for that honor. In recent years one of her greatest joys was playing golf. She was a well known and liked member at the Manchester Country Club where she loved to play with her many friends, all of whom admired her warmth, humor and generosity of heart and spirit. Family members include her husband of 30 years, Att. Peter M. Solomon of Londonderry, her son, Scott Jackson of Denver, Colorado, her grandson, Taylor Jackson, her brother, Shepard S. McArthur, Jr. and her sisters, Robbie White and Patsy McRae all of SC and several nephews, nieces and cousins. SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at Bedford Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2005. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to any charity which provides assistance to underprivileged people here in the United States.
