Staff Sergeant Ethan Patrick Vezina, 68W Combat Medic, 25, of Weare, NH passed away unexpectedly at his North Carolina residence on May 6, 2023.
Ethan was born April 13, 1998, in Lebanon, NH to Peter and Elizabeth (Ball) Vezina and was a graduate of John Stark High School, Class of 2016. Ethan realized his path following discussions with an Army Recruiter during a High School job fair and enlisted in the Army only a month after graduation. His drive and dedication to the military was apparent in how hard he worked to advance his rank. The first unit he served in was Charlie Company 710th BSB in Ft. Polk, LA. He was then assigned to Charlie Company 407th BSB with the 82nd Airborne Division in Ft. Bragg, NC. He came up through the ranks as a Team leader before becoming a Squad Leader and then eventually became a Platoon Sergeant as a Staff Sergeant, proudly serving his country until his passing.
Ethan’s love of adventure fueled many of his experiences, including hiking the northern section of the Appalachian Trail for his high school senior project. He enjoyed the physical demand and team camaraderie of paintball and lacrosse and loved going off-roading in his lifted truck with friends. Ethan could often be found target shooting or on the archery course with his longbow. While excitement and exploration were central to Ethan’s life, he also possessed a deep appreciation for the quieter moments, whether it be hiking mountains and trails all over New England, camping in the woods of NH with his parents and friends, or simply spending the day fishing in good company. Ethan squeezed every ounce of joy from his life and experienced everything he possibly could during his time on earth. His infectious spirit, wonderful sense of humor, and passion for living will be missed by the many people who knew and loved him.
Ethan is survived by his loving parents, Peter and Elizabeth Vezina, as well as his paternal grandmother, Betty Vezina. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, cherished friends throughout the country, and his military family all over the world.
The family will receive visitors Tuesday, May 23rd, 10:00am-11:30am at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 172 King Street in Boscawen.
