Ethel M. Macie, 74, of Brattleboro, VT passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at Concord Hospice House in Concord, NH. She was born in Irasburg, VT on February 21, 1939, the daughter of the late Victor and Florence (Gerow) Macie.
Ethel has been a Brattleboro resident since 1955. She graduated from Brattleboro Union High School, Class of 1959. She worked for 18 years at American Optical in Brattleboro, and then went on to work at Irving Paper now SCA for 22 years until her retirement in 2003. Ethel enjoyed walking and loved listening to music.
She is predeceased by two brothers, Donald and Phillip Macie and three sisters, Esther Fellows, Edith Macie and Elizabeth Sheltra.
She is survived by two brothers, Alexander Macie of Hudson, NH and Maurice Macie and his wife Alice of Newport, VT; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 11am at Locust Ridge Cemetery in Brattleboro. The Ker-Westerlund Funeral Home, 57 High St., Brattleboro has been entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ethel's name to Rescue, Inc., 541 Canal St., Brattleboro, VT 05301 or Concord VNA Hospice, 240 Pleasant St. Concord, NH.
