Eugene G. Carette, Sr., 90, of 27 College Road, died June 15, 2001 at the Elliot Hospital. He was born in Manchester on October 16, 1910, the son of Donat and Alice (Vincent) Carette and had been a lifelong resident of the city. He had worked in local textile mills throughout his career and was a shift foreman for many years. He was a parishioner of St. Edmond Church. He was predeceased by his wife, Alma M. (Gonthier) Carette who died in 1998 and by a son, Robert Carette, who died in 2000. Family members include a daughter, Pauline St. Onge of Manchester; two sons, Eugene G. Carette. Jr., of Raymond and Lucien Carette of Chester; 11 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; three sisters, Loretta Gabert of Bedford, Rita Cote and Laura Pelletier, both of Manchester; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Avenue on Monday evening from 6 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 10:00 in St. Edmond Church. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
