Evangeline “Van” Batalis Fusscas, 100 years old, of Manchester, NH, died peacefully Friday, November 11, 2022, at Hanover Hill Healthcare Center.
Mrs. Fusscas was born November 24, 1921, in Manchester, the daughter of Constantine and Maria (Efstathiou) Batalis. She had a successful forty-five year career as a legal secretary for the State of New Hampshire in the NH Fish and Game Department.
Van met and married the late Atty. James Peter Fusscas of New York City, who died in 2006. The couple had many wonderful years together.
Van served on the Board of Directors at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church and was an officer in Theta Tau Sigma Sorority and Philoptochos Society Soteria. Van was also a member of the Daughters of Penelope who recognized her with their “Woman of the Year” award.
Family members include two stepdaughters, Diane Flood and Anita Foster, and one stepson, J Peter Fusscas; and four nephews, Stephen Batalis, Michael Batalis, Paul Batalis, and Brian Batalis.
The family will receive visitors 10:00-11:00am Thursday, November 17th at Assumption Greet Orthodox Church, 111 Island Pond Road in Manchester. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00am with interment to follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church.
