Evelyn (Sherman) Cayer, 89, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, in Concord, New Hampshire.
Born on September 28, 1936, in Ashland, New Hampshire, Evelyn’s life was a rich tapestry of love, adventure, and cherished connections. Raised amidst the scenic beauty of New Hampshire and educated in Sunapee, Evelyn embodied a dedication to hard work that defined both her professional endeavors and personal life. Her steadfast spirit and warmth left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Family was the cornerstone of Evelyn’s life.
She is lovingly remembered by her children Larry Cayer, Thomas Cayer, and Crystal Anderson; her siblings Janice Hastings and Cliff Avery; as well as 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews who brought joy to her days. She was predeceased by her sons Dana, Bradley (Smokey), and Brett Cayer; her siblings Virginia Miller, Maxwell Sherman, and Herbert Sherman; and her lifelong friend Norma Lafontaine.
Each relationship she nurtured reflected the depth of her love and care. Evelyn found joy in life’s simplest pleasures—walking along the beach, immersing herself in a good book, or marveling at nature’s beauty. Her adventurous spirit and deep spirituality guided her through life with curiosity and grace. Evelyn leaves behind a legacy of love, joy and a profound appreciation for meaningful connections. Her memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her.
A celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held at Kimball Jenkins in Concord, New Hampshire, on May 16 at 1:30 p.m., where friends and family will gather to honor a remarkable life well-lived. Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Boscawen office, is assisting the family with arrangements.
