Everett C. Hunt, formerly of Warner NH, 95, died Sunday July 7 at The Birches of Concord in Concord NH. He was born on December 28,1928 in Stamford CT, the son of Benjamin G. Hunt and Dorothy Griffith Hunt.
He was the beloved husband of the late Jay Kilby Hunt. They were married on July 22, 1951, in Kings Point NY.
Everett graduated from the US Merchant Marine Academy in 1951 and went on to earn an MS Degrees in Mgt Engineering and Operations Research from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Northeastern University. He was granted a Doctor of Science from Eurotechnical Research University in 1988.
He served in the US Merchant Marines and US Navy 1951-1954. Everett then joined the General Electric Co for a 21-year career with assignments of increasing responsibilities in Engineering and Quality Control Management. Following his tenure at GE, he joined Sun Shipbuilding as Director Planning and Management Control. Everett then joined Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy as an Associate Professor of Engineering where he led the effort to get the Engineering programs certified. His last academic appointment was Professor of Marine Engineering and Dir of Research at Webb Institute. Everett retired in 1992 but continued to offer consulting services to a variety of shipbuilding firms.
Everett was a conservation enthusiast and member of the Appalachian Mountain Club and the Sierra Club. He was lifelong member of the Episcopal Church and became an Episcopal lay reader. Everett took great pride and joy in watching his children and grandchildren thrive and grow to adulthood.
Everett is survived by his daughter Gerilyn L Hunt and husband Shelby J Hall of Martinsburg, WV; his son William S. Hunt and wife Marie T. Hunt of Salisbury, NH: and Erik C. Hunt and partner Mary Frances Lunde of Sharon, PA. He also leaves beloved grandchildren Benjamin P. Hunt, Lauren S. Lumley, Zachary S. Hall and Ashton V. Duffy.
No formal services are currently planned. Interment at White Plains Rural Cemetery in White Plains NY will take place at a later date.
