F. Oscar Dionne

F. Oscar Dionne, 92, formerly of 374 Myrtle Street and currently of 200 Alliance Way, died March 7, 2007 at the Hackett Hill Health Care Center. He was born in Arlington, MA on August 17, 1914, the son of Frank and Marie Jeanne (Able) Dionne and had been a lifelong resident of Manchester. He worked for Gulton Industries for many years where he retired as a purchasing agent. He was a member of the National Association of Purchasing Agents. He was an avid fisherman and sports fan. Earlier in his life he played semi-pro baseball where he was a stand-out pitcher. He coached Babe Ruth and Legion Baseball in Manchester for many years and also coached CYO basketball. He was a long-time parishioner of St. Catherine Church. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Family members include his wife of 67 years, Ruth (Pelletier) Dionne; two sons, Richard A. Dionne of Vernon, CT and Paul O. Dionne of Manchester; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren an one great great grandchild; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street on Sunday from 4 to 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday morning at 10:00 in St. Catherine Church. Burial will follow in St. Augustin Cemetery.
