Fernande T. Marcotte

Fernande Therese Marcotte, 94, passed away peacefully at Merrimack County Nursing Home (MCNH) on September 17th with her loving family by her bedside. Her goal in life was to reach 100 years but that was cut short after having a stroke a few days prior to passing.

Born in Manchester, NH, on December 9, 1927, Fern was the eldest of four children of Donat and Antoinette Tardif. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Lionel (Marky), son Raymond, and her brother Lionel (Nel), and great grandson Lucas.
Fern and Marky married in 1947 and lived most of their lives in the Manchester area. Following retirement, they moved to Candia and wintered in Haines City, FL until Marky passed in 1999. Fern then moved back to Manchester and spent the last five years of her life at MCNH.

Fern worked at Chicopee Mills in Manchester as a shift supervisor for many years and also worked at Manchester City Hall in the finance department.

More than anything, Fern loved doing things with her family and looked forward to family gatherings. Penciled on her wall calendar was to attend a large family reunion scheduled for the day she passed. Sadly, it was not to be. She loved bingo and reading the Union Leader and always read it cover to cover and doing many of the puzzles. She also enjoyed going to amusement parks, especially riding roller coasters.

Family members include her eight children, Lionel (Sonny) and his wife Judy, Donald and his wife Beverly, Irene Gosselin and her husband Leo, Pauline Proulx and her husband Rick, Denise Marcotte L'Etoile, Rita Isabelle and her husband David, Linda Marcotte Preston, and Raymond Marcotte (predeceased 2008). She also leaves her sister Doris Hemond and sister Lucy Gendron and her husband Dick as well as 20 grandchildren, and more than 30 great grandchildren.

At Ferns request, there are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00am Friday, September 23rd at Ste Marie Roman Catholic Church, 378 Notre Dame Avenue in Manchester with committal service following immediately at Mount Calvary Mausoleum on Goffstown Rd in Manchester. Donations can be made in memory of Fernande Marcotte to Merrimack County Nursing Home to the charity of one's choice. Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium is assisting with arrangements.
