Fernande "Fern" Therrien, 94, a life-long resident of Pinardville, passed away peacefully after a long period of declining health, at Forestview Manor in Meredith, on Tuesday, November 8, 2016.
Born on the west side of Manchester, NH, she was the only child of the late Albert and Marie Anne (Bedard) Lasselle. Raised and educated in Manchester, she was a 1938 honors graduate of Holy Angels High School. Following high school, she attended Hesser College and earned a Diploma in Accounting in 1940.
Fern enjoyed her long career as a bookkeeper with several businesses in the area, retiring from Silver Brothers/Cott Bottling Company, in the mid-1980s.
A beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Fern's family was paramount in her life. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, and socializing at the senior center in Goffstown. In her younger years, she was an accomplished musician, playing the violin, guitar, ukulele, and harmonica. Fern reminisced about her fond memories of visiting the Uncanoonuc Farm with her aunt, and days of playing with her many close cousins from the Bedard family. She found great comfort and strength in her Catholic Faith. Fern will be best remembered for her generous heart and her kind and gentle spirit.
Fernande is survived by her son, Paul Therrien of Manchester, NH and daughter-in-law, Celine of Orono, ME; granddaughter, Michelle Roberts and husband, David of Ashland, NH; grandson, Paul Therrien and wife, Jennifer, and great-grandsons, Luke and Jonah of Manchester, NH; granddaughter, Anne McDougal and great-granddaughter, Molly of Bangor, ME; grandson, Joseph Therrien and wife, Annette, of Boston, MA. She will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Marcel Therrien; son, Leonard Therrien; and daughter-in-law, Pauline Therrien.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her Visitation will be held in the Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Ave., on Sunday, November 20, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated in the Ste. Marie's Parish, Notre Dame Ave., Manchester on Monday, November 21, at 10:00 A.M., followed by Committal at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
